How Much Do You Know About CHINA?!

Anyone have a guess what this lady is doing?

“Hotel tennis pro? ”

Wrong.

“Entertainer?”

No. Well kind of.

She is the mosquito killer! Yes, this lady stands in the lobby and zaps mosquitos! The racket you see she is holding has zapping powers.

We could use some of these for the farm!

Have a guess  what these girls are up to?

“Back up singers for Blake’s new ‘Dudes a Plenty Goes China’ group?”

Wrong.

“How many girls helped Blake try on shoes?”

Right.

And they all giggled and giggled putting their foot next to Blake’s since they had never seen a foot so large which is a size 10 and 1/2.

***************************

Any guesses what this is?

“Chocolate cake to calm down Theodore?”

Wrong.

“Mine and Blake’s chocolate treat to help with my dark chocolate ration??”

Right. We feel lucky to have this (amazing!) (Eastern!!) (huge!) Starbucks right around the corner from our hotel.

***************************

How about a guess for what this might be?

“A video game?”

Wrong.

“Vending machine?”

Yes…. but….

Its a vending machine in the Guangzhou Medical clinic that sells whiskey!  WHAAAT?!

***************************

Now this won’t be a hard guess …

“An egg roll found on every street corner in China?”

Wrong.

“An egg roll that took us 10 days to find in China?”

Right. Blake asked our Chinese friend and the bellboy where we could get an authentic egg roll and he looked confused. Had no idea. Finally, after more Chenglish conversation and with the help of a google picture, we landed some egg rolls.  The Chinese food here has been at times adventurous and almost always delicious by the way. πŸ˜‹

What state or country is the latitude here similar to?

“Tennessee?”

Wrong.

“Florida?”

Closer. More like Cuba.  Which helps explain the heat index being 102* F at 9:30 PM. πŸ˜…

***************************

Anyone know what Blake used this much money for?

“An ice cream cone?”

Wrong.

“A tip Blake gave for a bell boy? ”

Right.

It’s 15 cents. 😳 Needless to say, the bell boy didn’t feel very valued. And by the time we figured it out, we couldn’t find the poor boy.

Know what our point is on this pic?

“To show you a really cool Chinese guy?”  Yes I am sure he is, but that is …

Wrong.

“To give an example of one of hundreds of t-shirts we have seen with English words printed on them.”  They rarely make good sense  but I wouldn’t know what my shirt said if it was in Chinese.

This one says “Couples accompany my whole life.”  Other examples are “Hello Sea World” and “Mr Try”.

********************* ******

I can’t even think of a “wrong” guess for this. 😊

“Public restroom.”

Right.
How did you score?🎎

  1. In love this post! I still regret not buying change purses with sayings on them so wrong in English I cried in laughter in the market isle. “I need a pay rise” and “milk powder money” to name a few. πŸ˜‚ When you showed the Yuan I thought “oh no… Surely not”. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. That’s the funniest thing ever. I was also scared when you showed the chocolate dessert (before I knew it was from Starbucks) that it was bean paste. ***taises hand*** that happened to me and I’ll never forget it. 😱 Keep soaking up China! One mom I encountered who was SO graceful and sweet had on a provocative English label on her shirt. She obviously had no idea! A feeble old man dancing by the water on Shamian had a TERRIBLE f word written on his shirt that started with “Shut the” and ended with “up”. 😳 No clue – you just have to laugh! I wouldn’t laugh in America!

  5. Love this!! So funny!! One of our favorite parts of China are the funny signs with poorly translated English. When we had Chinese students staying with us, they said our shirts with Chinese characters didn’t say anything that made sense either. Haha
