An unexpected trip to the Big Apple came up a few weeks ago. Alexandra, our oldest, is heading to a new country this August to do mission work with YWAM. The country requires a work visa. The country tells you when and where to be in order to get your visa. So NEW York it is.
As I watched the boys fish and boat in our quiet pond the afternoon before we left I began to play out all that needed to happen to get to New York and back. Leaving on a Tuesday back by Wednesday.

My mind was rolling with details of the 2 1/2 hour drive to the airport, the shuttle bus, checking in for our flight, TSA check point, Uber ride into the city, etc, etc.
Fear began to set in on how safe it would feel to be in the city. And more fear came. I suddenly didn’t want to leave in the least bit.
As I faced the warm sun on this beautiful spring day, I began to pray over each detail.
I determined that I would not live in fear BUT as each step went smoothly I would try to remember to stop and thank the Lord.
The next morning came fast and OFF WE WENT!

Are you similar to me in when things go as planned we hardly take notice?
BUT When things don’t go our way we REALLY seem to NOTICE.

We were in the Big City for 24 hours and the work Visa is completed! Mission accomplished. We had a LOT of chances to stop and Thank the Lord. Not to mention the yummy Greek food, New York pastries, and time with each other that I will ALWAYS cherish.
So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid.” Hebrews 13:6a
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” Mother Teresa
Love this! 🙂 Glad everything worked out! Clay and I just went fishing at Fall Creek Falls — your pond is better stocked! 🙂
