Mid Autumn Moon Fesitval

It was a steamy day in the south for us to celebrate this Chinese holiday called the Mid Autumn Moon Festival.

Theodore and I took an opportunity we had to go to the grocery store ALONE (we call that a date…. any child that gets alone with me whether it’s to the dentist or the grocery 😊) to try and choose a Chinese meal for lunch as part of our celebration.

As we were walking up to the front entrance of our local Kroger I heard over my right shoulder someone hollering. I wasn’t positive that it was us that the older gentlemen was shouting towards but as I turned I saw that he was DEFINITELY talking to us as he sat in the shade with empty grocery baskets around him.

You give God ALL the glory. “ Mr. Mr. said to us With a smile on his face. He was probably 100 yards away. He had his right arm stretched out as if he was pointing directly into my heart and his left arm leaning into his left knee.

I loved his boldness, smiled and said, “ Yes Sir. I will.”

Mr.Mr. Proceeded, “ And you pray for that little one.” I couldn’t believe he noticed Theodore with me since he was so far away.

“You pray ALL the time,” he continued.

“Absolutely.” I replied with a smile.

Mr. Mr. affected me. I told Theodore that when we came back out we were going to tell him how much we appreciated his reminder to us to give God glory and to pray without ceasing.

When we got back outside his chair in the shade was now empty.

Maybe he will be there next time 😊.

We struck out on a Chinese meal at the grocery Store so we then made our way to get Chinese take out.

I quizzed our new friend at the Chinese dive about the holiday. She said that in China they take 3 days off to celebrate the holiday.

In addition to a Chinese lunch, my friend, Elizabeth, mailed us a package complete with moon cakes to help us get in the spirit. Over lunch we talked about the Chinese holiday and looked at Moon books.

We’re glad to remember Theodore’s heritage on this Mid Autumn Moon Festival day. As my friend Sharon reminded me -we took an oath on that warm May day in Nanning, Quanxi to always teach them about China. It’s my joy to get to do just that!

“So that in all things praise may be given to God through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and power forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:11

Maybe Mr. Mr. knew this verse.
