Day 7- Sunday in China

Theodore slept great last night and was soundly sleeping late this morning, so I slipped out of the room to exercise downstairs. But after only 2 minutes, it felt like 2 hours! It seemed 100 degrees in there but since the temp is in Celsius, I couldn’t tell you the actual temp- but close to 100 degrees I am sure! πŸ˜‰

Blake, on the other hand, has exercised everyday and hasn’t mentioned the heat at all. He will probably come back looking like Mr. Universe.

In my quiet time today I read this verse :

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good.

                  3 John 11

I mention that because we found a Chinese/ English Christian service to go to today.

And can  you guess what verse was preached from? You guessed it, 3 John 11. The entire Bible has 31,102 verses in it according to google and  the passage used today in China at a Christian church is the one I read on the porch of our hotel before leaving.   😊 I continue to be amazed at God’s handiwork in our lives.

My favorite part of the service was when all 300 people in the congregation sang, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” in English. From our view we were the only  English speaking folks in the whole room so it felt like they sang it  just for us.

I spent most of the service bouncing Theodore in the courtyard outside, where I met 2 new English speaking friends, a New Zealander and an American from  Philadelphia. Interestingly, they are both married to Chinese ladies and both have chosen to live in Guangzhou. We had lunch with them and there’s tons I could say about our conversation but I will spare you the details. (Sorry Mumsie!)

Why yes I like fresh squeezed orange juice from Lucy’s restaurant.
This is Joann who is Paul’s wife (the man from Philadelphia.) She speaks Cantonese and Theodore really took to her. And so did I – it thrilled me to see her chatting away to Theodore. I wanted to take her with us!

Then later that afternoon, our petite and spunky guide Grace, took us out to a nearby market. Good thing since Theodore is still preferring to be out of hotel room when he is awake!

One million people come here to shop a day. Um, i just said ONE MILLION PEOPLE PER DAY! Is that crazy or what?

Then we walked home and got to see dried goods such as  teas, and Chinese medicine.

Grace hugged me and thanked us for adopting. She said, “Our people think you might be angels who have come to help.”

Blake and I are the ones who are forever changed from being adopted by God Himself as His children and for the chance to adopt a precious life!

Next we played before bed.

The hotel has a children’s play area where we played.

Thankful for today! Theodore seems to be feeling better physically which sure makes us ALL feel better.

  3. Wow! I love it when God uses Scripture to confirm we are exactly where He wants us to be! πŸ™‚ It is such a testimony to His faithfulness to see how He is continuing to shower you with blessings like Joann. It’s so neat that she was able to talk with Theodore in his native language! I’m sure just hearing familiar words was such a comfort to him. I’m also so thankful he is feeling better physically. That was just an extra layer of difficulty for him, and I’m thankful he is moving past that! Rejoicing that you had a good day and even had some time to yourself to exercise (even if it was in a sauna, lol!). πŸ™‚
